Ephesians 6:21,22 NLT - "To bring you up to date, Tychicus will give you a full report about what I am doing and how I am getting along. He is a beloved brother and faithful helper in the Lord's work. I have sent him to you for this very purpose--to let you know how we are doing and to encourage you."
Ever want to know how other believers are doing? Your heart is concerned for their spiritual growth or you're so blessed by their ministry to you that you want to hear how many others are being blessed by them too. Paul knew the believers he has written to had a genuine concern about him. So he sent a faithful helper in the Gospel, Tychicus, to share with these believers a ministry report about Paul. Paul also sent him to be an encouragement to their ongoing spiritual growth.
Today, we rely on the quickness of email messages to keep us up to date almost to the minute no matter where other believers are all around the world. How blessed both the missionary and their supporters are to share current prayer requests or to give progress reports. Praise the Lord for these technical blessings to the Church!
One thing to especially note: Tychicus is described as a beloved brother and a faithful helper in service to the Lord. Paul was blessed having traveling companions who loved him and provided much needed fellowship and friendship as he reached out to a lost and dying world. But Tychicus was also a "faithful helper" in ministry. Paul knew he couldn't do everything - remember, he spoke of how the Church as the Body of Christ is made up of many members each having a specific job to fulfill. This is so needed today. Christians need to realize they have been given gifts to use to help other believers fulfill their responsibilities. Many of us know this truth as a fact. But, do you know their truth in your experience? Are you a "faithful helper in the Lord's work" to your Christian family?
