Insights on Today's Reading
Exodus 13 - God wanted Israel to always remember the Passover by observing it every year. This would eventually fall on the very day Jesus would be crucified as the Lamb of God, our sacrifice to wash away our sin. God would lead the people to the shore of the Red Sea using a cloudy pillar by day and a pillar of fire by night to guide them. Exodus 14 - God purposely put Israel "between a rock and a hard place" by allowing them to face the formidable Red Sea in front on them and the pursuing Egyptian army behind them. God would get glory over the ultimate defeat of Egypt and He would show the Israelites the power of His salvation in parting the Red Sea! Exodus 15 - Moses would lead the people in a Song of Deliverance as they gathered on the distant shore and free forever from the tyranny of Egypt! Even Miriam would sing a Doxology of praise for God's triumph over the horses and chariots.
