Insights on Today's Reading
Deuteronomy 32 - This is the song Moses wrote to remind Israel of their heritage and to encourage them to follow the Lord and love Him. It was not just "good enough" that they would enter the Promised Land, but more importantly, that they would be living as God's people should. God wasn't giving the people the new land for them to live as they wanted, but to live their lives as He wanted. Deuteronomy 33 - Like others, Moses would pass on his words of blessing to give encouragement and prophecy to most of the tribes of Israel. (Only Simeon is not mentioned). Deuteronomy 34 - Moses finally gets to the top of Mount Pisgah in order to see the Promised Land. This was the fulfillment of God's promise to him, that though he wouldn't set foot in that land, he still would get to see it from afar. God keeps all of His promises including those that would bring chastisement and correction. This ends the reading of one of the most important passages of the Bible, the Pentateuch. That is, the first five books of the Bible also known simply as "The Law." You will start tomorrow with the historical books of the Old Testament which will give a wealth of historical events that can inspire and encourage you in your own walk with the Lord. Psalm 91 - The reason for reading this Psalm now is that some Bible teachers believe Moses wrote it along with Psalm 90.
