Insights on Today's Reading
Matthew 28 - Matthew records the women's visit of the tomb to find the stone rolled back from the door, verse 2, and an angel sitting on it. They were told that Jesus had risen and later He met them Himself, verse 9. The soldiers who were supposed to guard the tomb came and reported what happened. They were bribed to tell a lie that Jesus' disciples came and stole the body of Jesus, verses 11-15. Jesus met His disciples in Galilee, verse 16, and gave them His Great Commission of making disciples of people all over the world, verses 19,20. Mark 16 - Mark gives the shortest version of the events of the day of Jesus' resurrection. He records the time Jesus met two men as they walked in the country, verse 12. (Luke will give more of an account on this). Jesus also gave His disciples the orders to spread the Gospel to everyone, verse 15. You may be reading a version of the Bible that speaks of the different ways some translations end this Gospel. Don't get alarmed. All the possible endings don't differ in any significant way.
