IF quotes are from Amy Carmichael, who was a Protestant Christian missionary that served in India for 55 years without furlough and wrote many books about the missionary work there.
OTHER RESURRECTIONS IN THE BIBLE Part 2
Last week I shared with you five of the nine resurrections recorded in the Bible. I'd like to share the remaining four with you now. BUT there's another occurrence too, that includes "many" more! You'll see that at the end of this list. Lazarus - Recorded in John 17:1-44. I'll quote just verses 43, 44. "Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, 'Lazarus, come forth!' And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with grave clothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, 'Loose him, and let him go.'" Dorcas (Tabitha) - Recorded in Acts 9:36-41. I'll just quote verses 36, 37, 40 "At Joppa there was a certain disciple named Tabitha, which is translated Dorcas...she became sick and died...They sent two men [to] Peter...imploring him to not delay in coming...then Peter arose and went with them....Peter...knelt down and prayed. And turning to the body he said, 'Tabitha, arise.' And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up." Eutychus - Recorded in Acts 20:9-12, I'll quote from verses 9, 10, 12 "And in a window sat a certain young man named Eutychus, who was sinking into a deep sleep...he fell down from the third story and was taken up dead. But Paul went down, fell on him, and embracing him said, 'Do not trouble yourselves, for his life is in him.'...and they brought the young man in alive..." The Two Witnesses Recorded in Revelation 11:7-12 "When they finished their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit will make war against them, overcome them, and kill them. And their dead bodies will lie in the street...Now after the three-and-a-half days the breath of life from God entered them, and they stood up on their feet..." The Other Occurrence: Many Saints at the Time of Christ's Death and Resurrection - Recorded in Matthew 27:50-53 "And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many."
