Matthew 5:44 NKJV - "But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you."
How do you love your enemy? How do you bless those who seek to insult you with their profanity and curses? Why should you do good to those who hate you? And how can you pray for people who want to harm you? Part of the answer is: remember you were God's enemy once, . And He loved you, Romans 5:8. He blessed your life, Deuteronomy 8:18. He did good to you in order to draw you to Him, Romans 2:4. And He prayed for those who harmed Him, Luke 23:34.
He set the example for us to follow. And He wants you to be like Him, Romans 8:29. He wants your obedience to this command. How can we do this? Remember what Philippians 2:13 says in the NLT, "For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him." Ask Him to help you to obey Him and trust Him that He will do just that.
