Insights on Today's Reading

Psalm 17 - As you read this Psalm note the human terms uses for God:  His ear, vs. 1; His eyes, vs. 2; His lips, vs. 4; His hand, vs, 14; and, His face, vs. 15.  We know that God is a Spirit, but David recognized human qualities in His care and leadership in David's life.  And especially note that in verse 15 David speaks of his longing to "awaken" in God's likeness!  However God appears to you, there will be a day when He will complete His work of conforming you to the image of His Son, Romans 8:29.

Psalm 35 - David felt wronged by those who were pursuing him.  He truly felt that He didn't do anything that would bring on their attacks and he cries out to God to vindicate him.  He even speaks of the way he showed concern and kindness for these who act like enemies to him.  David earnestly prayed for his enemies and treated them as if they were his a dear friend or family member.

Psalm 54 - David spoke of those who ignore God and treat David with contempt even though they hardly no him either!  But David also appreciates those who support and encourage him.  There are times when the enemies seem overwhelming, but one good friend can lift us up and encourage us to praise our God.

Psalm 63 - David has a wonderful thirst for God!  No matter how much he's come to know the Lord he still wants to know Him better.  Even at night David is thinking about his God.  It is wonderful to get to a place in your life when you just can't seem to spend enough time with your Lord!
