1 Chronicles 7 - The descendants of Issachar, Benjamin, Naphtali, the other half of the tribe of Manasseh, and the tribe of Ephraim, and Asher are listed. Read carefully. One of these tribes suffered the death of their kinfolk who were involved in cattle rustling!
1 Chronicles 8 - Benjamin's descendants are listed again, possibly because the first king of Israel, Saul, came from that tribe.
1 Chronicles 9 - Okay, here's a chapter that few people have read carefully. This gives the listing of the people who lived in Jerusalem. That sounds, normal, but if you read carefully enough you will see this is AFTER the Babylonian captivity! These people are part of the remnant of Jews who survived the seventy years captivity in Babylon. Interesting that this should be recorded at this point. The chapter ends with a listing of Saul's descendants because the next chapter will give the account of Saul's death.
1 Chronicles 10 - The record is given of the sad ending to Saul's life. He fought valiantly as did his sons. But he fell into the snare of pride which ruined what could have been a great kingship.
