Daily Bible Reading for Week of January 28 - February 3
This week's Bible reading will bring you the first time the Ten Commandments are listed. Then you will read of other various laws and ordinances that God placed on the lives of the Israelites. Ultimately this Law will show Israel that they could not keep it perfectly and they would need a Redeemer who could! You will read of God's faithfulness to the people and even allowing 70 of them to "see" God on Mount Sinai (Exodus 24:9,10). Even though they had that experience they would still have Aaron make a golden calf to worship in Exodus 32! Then you will read of Moses' intercession for the people and his plea for God to reveal His glory to Moses, Exodus 33:18. In the New Testament you will read of the days of the Passion Week. Jesus will rebuke the Pharisees for their legalistic approach to worship in Matthew 23 and He will teach His disciples about His 2nd Coming in Matthew 24,25. 1/28 Exodus 20-23 1/29 Exodus 24-26 1/30 Matthew 22,23 1/31 Exodus 27-29 2/1 Exodus 30-32 2/2 Matthew 24,25 2/3 Exodus 33-35

Weekly Bible Reading - Week of January 21-27, 2018
This weeks reading will bring you into many more miracles Jesus performed along with His Transfiguration and His entrance into Jerusalem at the beginning of His last week before His crucifixion and resurrection. The passages in the Old Testament will bring you through much of the "contest" between Moses and Pharaoh as Moses told Pharaoh to let Israel leave Egypt. God would ultimately triumph over all the "gods" of Egypt and bring His people safely through the Red Sea. You will read of Israel's coming to Mt. Sinai and receiving from God their "daily bread" in the form of manna. 1/21 Matthew 15,16 1/22 Exodus 5-8 1/23 Exodus 9-12 1/24 Matthew 17-19 1/25 Exodus 13-15 1/26 Exodus 16-19 1/27 Matthew 20,21 Weekly Bible Reading - Week of January 14-20, 2018
This week's Bible reading will bring you into the experiences of Joseph in Egypt and the obvious way God used that to bring about "salvation" for Jacob's family from starvation. It also sets the stage for the Exodus that you will begin reading by the end of the week. The New Testament reading will bring you into more of Jesus' miracles and teaching, especially the many parables Jesus gave to His disciples and the people who followed Him. 1/14 Genesis 38-41 1/15 Matthew 11,12 1/16 Genesis 42-44 1/17 Genesis 45-47 1/18 Matthew 13,14 1/19 Genesis 48-50 1/20 Exodus 1-4 Weekly Bible Reading - Week of January 7-13
This week's reading in the Old Testament will bring you further into the life of Abraham from the birth of his son, Isaac, to his being willing to offer his son as a sacrifice to God! You will read how Rebekah became a part of the family and her influence on her son, Jacob. You will read of the failures in Esau's life and the blessing of God being given to Jacob. And you will read how the "stage was set" to bring Jacob's family to Egypt. In the New Testament you will finish Jesus' "Sermon on the Mount" and then begin to see many of His best-known miracles performed. Please note that Matthew's emphasis on Jesus was to show Him the legitimate King of the Jews but how the Jewish leadership would refuse Him. You will also read of Jesus' requirements for those who would follow Him in discipleship. 1/7 Genesis 20-23 1/8 Genesis 24-26 1/9 Matthew 7,8 1/10 Genesis 27-30 1/11 Genesis 31-34 1/12 Matthew 9,10 1/13 Genesis 35-37 Weekly Bible Reading - Week of January 1 - 6
I've set up your Bible Reading by giving you two days of Old Testament reading followed by one day reading in the New Testament. This will be the pattern right up until the last few days of the year. Your reading will start this week with "beginnings." Your passages in the Old Testament will give you the account of creation, the entrance of sin into man's experience, the immediate results of that, and the promises of God to provide a Redeemer for mankind, The New Testament reading will give you an account of the birth of that Redeemer, Jesus Christ, who is given the name "Jesus" because He will save His people from their sins. You will then begin reading of Jesus' ministry and teaching and miracles. 1/1 Genesis 1-4 1/2 Genesis 5-9 1/3 Matthew 1-3 1/4 Genesis 10-15 1/5 Genesis 16-19 1/6 Matthew 4-6 |
