Daily Bible Reading for the Week of August 12-18, 2018
8/12 Psalm 103-105 - Psalm 103 is one of the great Psalms to enjoy as you think of the benefits God gives to His children. Psalm 104 praises the God of creation and encourages sweet meditation in singing. Psalm 105 shows the faithfulness of God to His people. 8/13 1 Corinthians 15,16 - Chapter 15 has often been called "The Resurrection Chapter" of the Bible. Paul emphasizes the reality of Christ's resurrection and its importance to our salvation. In chapter 16 gives Paul's personal greetings and his call for believers to stand firm in their faith. 8/14 Psalm 106-108 - Psalm 106 focuses on the unfaithfulness of God's people and God's goodness to them anyway. Psalm 107 calls on the redeemed to give God the praise that He is due. Psalm 108 calls for help from God for the help of people is useless. 8/15 Psalm 109-114 - Psalm 109 asks God to bring judgment on the wicked. Psalm 110 speaks of the coming King as God's priest in the order of Melchizadek. Psalm 111 praises God for His magnificent works. Psalm 112 speaks of the man who fear God as being steadfast in his faith. Psalm 113 speaks of God "humbling Himself" to bow down to see what is happening on earth! Psalm 114 gives praise to God for Israel's release from Egypt. 8/16 2 Corinthians 1,2 - Paul writes this letter to speak of the authority God had given him to guide oversee the churches. He speaks of his delay in coming to them in chapter 1. In chapter 2 Paul emphasizes the need to offer forgiveness to a fallen and repentant believer. 8/17 Psalm 115-118 - Psalm 115 emphasizes that God, alone, should receive glory. Psalm 116 speaks of the believer's response to the benefits God gives. Psalm 117 is the shortest chapter in the Bible and it is also the middle chapter! There are 594 chapters from Genesis 1 to Psalm 116 and 594 chapters from Psalm 118 to Revelation 22! Psalm 118 speaks of the "day the Lord has made" referring to Christ's triumphal entry into Jerusalem. 8/18 Psalm 119:1-88 - This is the longest chapter of the Bible. It is a Psalm of praise for the power of God's Word. You will find a synonymn for the Word in almost every verse. Note the connection between verse 9 and 11. Read with a desire to learn how important the Bible is to our everyday lives!
