Joshua 18:3 NKJV - "Then Joshua said to the children of Israel: 'How long will you neglect to go and possess the land which the Lord God of your fathers has given you.'"
One of the sad thoughts I think will happen to so many people is that they will come to the end of their lives achieving the goals they sought and/or the wealth they wanted, as well as the fame they wished to possess, but finding in the end that none of it really mattered. They felt emptier at the end of their lives more so than at the beginning. They will be like the person in the old adage: "I did my best to climb the ladder of success only to reach the top and find out the ladder was leaning against the wrong wall." Too many people aim for a worldly dream with no eternal reward and bypass the chance to achieve a heavenly reward with eternity to enjoy it.
God calls us to Himself. That's what salvation was meant to do - change our relationship to God from that of an enemy to the status of a child of His. Now that we belong to Him we need to realize that His will is meant to be our goal. And we don't get to know His will without spending the rewarding time in His presence where we not only learn what He wants us to do but where we gain the power to do it! Why do we look at the prayer closet as a desirable place to be but we never enter it? There's so much God would do with a praying Christian. There's so much God could do with you. There's pleasure and joy in serving Jesus. But we won't find it until we enter that prayer closet and seek God and listen to Him. What are we waiting for?
