Insights on Today's Reading
Jeremiah 51* - This chapter continues God's judgment call against Babylon. Their sins were detailed showing that God was well aware of their own wickedness that deserved His punishment. God would rescue His people from them, verse 45. Jeremiah's closing words are recorded in verses 59-64. Jeremiah 52 - Some believe it was actually Baruch who may have written this chapter. Once again, Zedekiah's miserable judgment is recorded. Remember, Jeremiah had pleaded with Zedekiah to give up and go peacefully to Babylon, but the king rebelled and suffered horribly. The closing verses speak of Evil-Merodach, another king of Babylon, showing kindness to Jehoiachin, king of Judah. *Jeremiah 51, by content, is the 2nd longest chapter of the Bible.
