Philippians 4:8 NKJV - "Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things."
The Menu of the Mind - that's what our Daily Verse has been called for quite some time. I know those of you who are used to the KJV will perhaps miss the word, "whatsoever!" I remember a teenage Sunday School class where the teacher read this verse and asked the students what was the most important word in the verse. One wise-cracker yelled, "Whatsoever!" Obviously, again for you KJV people, the answer should have been "Think"! In the NKJV the word has been changed to "meditate." Either word is fine, but "meditate" brings you immediately back to verses such as:
Joshua 1:8 - "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success."
Psalm 1:2 - "But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night."
Christian, there's a lot of stuff the world tries to get you mind focused on, but to give yourself the spiritual health you need, feed on the suggestions of our Daily Verse. Paramount, of course, is to feed on God's Word and your prayer-fellowship time with your Savior. Watch how the Lord truly does bring spiritual success and prosperity to you!
