Isaiah 9:6b NKJV - "And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
Of all the titles in this passage given to Jesus perhaps the one most unusual is "Everlasting Father." At the beginning of this verse we're told "unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given..." He is the Son of God, no doubt. How is He also the "Everlasting Father?" Perhaps my simple answer is to emphasize the Tri-Unity of God. He is One God in Three Persons and each Person is equal to and equivalent of the Other and cannot be seen as less than any Other. Jesus is Equal to His Father. Even the Jews accused Jesus of saying, "...God was His Father, making Himself equal with God," John 5:18. Jesus is also likened to the Father by the times He refers to His followers as "children" such as John 13:33, "Little children, I shall be with you a little longer..." and John 21:5, "Children, have you any food?" I believe the song writer had it correct when he wrote, "I'm a child of the King." He is our Savior, He is the Son of God, He is also our Eternal Father!
