Matthew 9:11,12 NKJV - "And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to His disciples, 'Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?' When Jesus heard that, He said to them, 'Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.'"
Aren't you glad that Jesus came into this world to save sinners? What if He did only come for righteous people? Everybody I know would have been left out. For that matter, the Bible makes it very clear that there are "none righteous, no, not one," Romans 3:10. The problem, however, is that there are far too many people who think they are "righteous enough" to please God. But Paul makes that very clear in Romans 10 and Philippians 3 that any righteousness other than God's is NEVER good enough for God's heaven. The wonderful truth is that Jesus Christ came into this world not just to save sinners, but to give them His righteous standing before God. That's what Romans 5:1 means when it says we are "justified by faith." That means to be declared righteous because we have trusted Christ to cleanse us from all our unrighteousness. Yes, Jesus came for us sinners. How eternally grateful we should be!
