Daily Bible Reading for Week of February 18-24, 2018
The reading for this week will bring you to the end of Leviticus where you will read of added commandments, promises, and encouragements to obey God, and warnings if the people disobey God's laws. People are also taught about the dedication of people, animals, and anything they wish to consecrate to the Lord. The Book of Numbers will actually have a lot to say about the number of the people of Israel in various categories. Each tribe's available fighting men is given in chapter 1. Then Moses speaks of the arrangements of the tribes as they camp around the Tabernacle. The Levites are numbered and each family of Aaron is given specific responsibilities as to the setting up, dismantling, and transport of the Tabernacle. Please note the repetition in chapter 7. Each tribe is to bring an offering to the Levites for their use. There may be a sense of "tedious" reading, but try to think of this as a check-list to be sure each tribe gives what they should. Reading in the Gospel of Mark will focus on obeying God's Laws versus man's traditions. Note the word "corban" in chapter 7 and how the Pharisees were circumventing God's laws in order to enforce their own teachings. Chapter 8 speaks of the "Feeding of the Four Thousand" and chapter 9 presents the account of the Transfiguration of Christ. 2/18 Leviticus 24-26 2/19 Leviticus 27 - Numbers 1, 2 2/20 Mark 7,8 2/21 Numbers 3-5 2/22 Numbers 6,7 2/23 Mark 9 2/24 Numbers 8-11
