Insights on Today's Reading
Job 35 - Elihu accused Job of thinking too much of himself. He also said that a man's sins or righteousness doesn't have any affect on God. In saying this Elihu was forgetting the personal nature of God and His desire to be close to all His people. Job 36 - Elihu criticized Job for questioning God but then spoke of himself as having "perfect knowledge." He did speak of God's might, God's exaltation, and God's greatness but then spoke of our not being able to know God. And yet he would speak as an "authority" on God?! Job 37 - Elihu did use the weather to speak of God's ability to control His creation. He emphasized that God should be feared and that He doesn't respect those who think they are wise. Elihu should have said that to himself!
