Insights on Today's Reading
Genesis 25 - How many sons did Abraham eventually have? If you said, "two," you'd be wrong. This chapter shows Abraham marrying again and having six more sons! Abraham died in "a good old age." The focus now turns to Isaac and he prayed for Rebekah to have children. We are then introduced to Esau and Jacob. Pay attention to the promise God made to Rebekah before her sons were born. The older would serve the younger. Genesis 26 - Isaac followed in his father's footsteps of deception as he tried to pass off Rebekah as his sister. But God was merciful. Isaac grew in wealth, but he would have trials in securing the "water rights" for his own flocks and herds.
