Insights on Today's Reading
Exodus 22 - God gives laws regarding theft and restitution as well as taking unfair advantage of a neighbor's property. God shows His care for the poor. All through the Scriptures God has made it clear that He wants His people seeking to uplift those who face struggles in their lives. Exodus 23 - God wants justice in trials and He wants the Israelites always to treat the foreigners with love and protection, remembering they were foreigners in Egypt. The three yearly feasts of Israel are to be celebrated together. He promises the land of Canaan to be given to Israel, a promise that is yet to be fully fulfilled! Exodus 24 - This is one of the most impressive moments in Israel's history: God calls Moses to bring Aaron, his sons, and 70 elders of Israel up to the mount. They would "see" God, His glory that is, but they would still be made aware of God's awesome Presence. They would have no excuse for even thinking of worshiping any other god. (This will make you wonder when you read Exodus 32!)
