Weekly Bible Reading - Week of January 7-13
This week's reading in the Old Testament will bring you further into the life of Abraham from the birth of his son, Isaac, to his being willing to offer his son as a sacrifice to God! You will read how Rebekah became a part of the family and her influence on her son, Jacob. You will read of the failures in Esau's life and the blessing of God being given to Jacob. And you will read how the "stage was set" to bring Jacob's family to Egypt. In the New Testament you will finish Jesus' "Sermon on the Mount" and then begin to see many of His best-known miracles performed. Please note that Matthew's emphasis on Jesus was to show Him the legitimate King of the Jews but how the Jewish leadership would refuse Him. You will also read of Jesus' requirements for those who would follow Him in discipleship. 1/7 Genesis 20-23 1/8 Genesis 24-26 1/9 Matthew 7,8 1/10 Genesis 27-30 1/11 Genesis 31-34 1/12 Matthew 9,10 1/13 Genesis 35-37
