Insights on Today's Reading
Exodus 25 - God gives Moses a list of items the Israelites could give to the Lord's work. God gives His design for the Ark of the Covenant, the table for the showbread, and the lampstand. Each item is designed with beauty and purity to set them apart for the service for which they will be used in the worship of God.
Exodus 26 - God gives his design for the tabernacle and the curtains covering it. It will be waterproof and very sturdy to stand the wilderness travels. It's place in Israel's camp will be the center for their worship and recognition of the holiness of God.
Exodus 27 - The altar for sacrifice was described. It would sit in the courtyard right outside the entrance to the Holy Place. Then the courtyard curtains, the posts and bases are described. God wanted the Israelites to give pure olive oil for the lamps to be kept burning.
As you read these chapters describing the tabernacle try to see that God is using each item to describe Himself to His people and the importance of His dwelling with them. Jesus would be made flesh and "tabernacle with us" when He was born. See John 1:14.
