Colossians 2:13,14  NKJV - "And you, being dead in your trespasses...He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having...taken it [them] out of the way, having nailed it [them] to the cross."

Commentary:

Yesterday we spoke about our spiritual debt having been "Paid in Full" by Christ.  Today's Daily Verses speak of what He did to make this happened.  He recognized that we were "dead in our trespasses."  He made us alive through the New Birth.  When He saved us He forgave all our trespasses that we had committed.  And how could He do this?  He took those trespasses and "nailed them to the cross," thus taking these sins on Himself.

What He did was put our "debt" and had it applied to His account!  He hung on the cross as the guilty One!  God the Father looked and saw our sin on His own Son and God inflicted on Jesus all the judgment we deserved!  Can you find a better display of redeeming love?  Christ did this for you and for me and for everyone!

1 John 2:2 says that "He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world."  The word "propitiation" means that Jesus completely satisfied God's just demands that sin be judged.  And Jesus became that propitiation for everyone!

Why should you or anyone go to hell to be judged for your sin when Jesus already did so for you?  Though He did this freely and offers it to you without charge, you must recognize your sin and receive Christ into your life.  God won't force Himself on you.  He offers this as a gift freely given by His grace.  But, you must accept it!  Please do so NOW.
