Insights on Today's Reading
1 Kings 7 - While the temple was being completed Solomon had a palace built for himself. But the rest of this chapter shows how a hired worker, Huram from Tyre, came and completed the work on all the equipment and furnishings needed for the new Temple. A detailed account is given of Huram's work. 2 Chronicles 4 - This chapter shows the continuation of the work done to prepare all the necessary furnishings for the Temple. Note the "sea" which was the large swimming-pool size tank that was used for washing. Huram also made the lamps, pots and shovels, everything needed for the priests to carry out their duties. God was meticulous in His guidance that everything be ready for the Israelites to present their sacrifices and the priests to offer them before Him.
