2 Corinthians 5:9 NKJV - "Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him."
Commentary: Do you think you have to please the Lord to gain His favor? Do you struggle everyday with guilt feelings, thinking that you just haven't done a "good enough job" to make God happy with you? Or, do you seek to please the Lord because you already have His favor? Remember, He chose you before you chose Him, John 15:16. He already was pleased to bring you to Himself, Ephesians 1:4-6. You don't have to "work for God's favor" any more than you had to "work for your salvation!" But, since you have God's favor already, what's the natural reaction to that? You want to show Him how much you enjoy His acceptance of you! This is one of the most talked about issues facing many Christians down through the centuries. Tomorrow, I want to show you why you want to "please the Lord."
