Insights on Today's Reading

Psalm 65 - God shows His care for His own through His creation.  He hears prayer and he answers.  He provides atonement for our sins and He gives us access to Him in prayer.  He uses His creation to provide for the needs of mankind.  Every year God provides for His creation and His creation responds with joy.  Do you give God praise for His provision for you and your own?

Psalm 66 - This Psalm continues the theme of praising God for His many blessings.  A day is coming when all the earth will praise God.  But this Psalm also reminds us that God is aware of sin in our hearts.  And when we refuse to confess and abandon these sinful desires, God withholds answers to our prayers.  But the Psalm end with praise that God does not turn away our prayers but shows us His mercy.

Psalm 67 - God wants to show the nations of the earth His mercy and love.  He desires praise from the people of the earth and He allows the earth to bring forth abundance to bless them.

Psalm 69 - God is aware of our sin no matter how hard we try to hide them.  David did not want people to be ashamed because of his sins.  He was a leader and he needed to lead in righteousness.  David shows a proper lament over his own failures and seeks God's mercy.  He calls on all to seek the Lord to magnify Him with thanksgiving.

Psalm 70 - David requests deliverance from God and he exalts in God's salvation!  David sees how poor and needy he is and finds that God is ready to meet his need.  The question might be asked, "Are we willing to see ourselves as David saw himself?"  Or, are we too self-sufficient to admit we need God's deliverance?  May God humble us as David humbled himself.
