Colossians 2:6 NKJV - "As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him."
Commentary: If you haven't noticed, this is another verse that can be "connected" to John 1:12 where we read, "But as many as received Him..." Believing on Christ to be your Savior is a matter of receiving Him into your life as He also receives you, Romans 15:7, "Therefore receive one another, just as Christ also received us, to the glory of God." Now, remember, your reception of Christ and His reception of you is entirely because of God's grace! You and I and every other Christian did not get saved because we earned our salvation. Grace means the "undeserved favor of God." We not only didn't deserve His favor, we also could do nothing to gain it. Now, recognizing this to be true, let's also recognize that every Christian, no matter how spiritual or unspiritual they may be, has also been received by God as His own children on the basis of God's grace. Knowing this, let's also give these believers the acceptance and love we all wish to receive ourselves. Let's be careful not to withhold our love and kindness to a wayward believer. It's the ongoing, consistent, and unconditional love that has helped us through many a wayward time ourselves. Let's give that same kind of love and consideration to ALL believers, all the time. So, the point of our Daily Verse is to keep us focused on a couple of things. You received Christ Jesus by Grace through Faith. Both grace and faith should continue to be a daily part of our walk with the Lord. We must always see our growth and dedication to Christ is on the basis of God's grace. We couldn't grow and we couldn't even dedicate ourselves to the Lord without it! Also, our faith in Christ shouldn't stop with salvation! We need to continue to trust Him moment by moment through every day. And let's encourage other believers to do the same.
