Luke 19:41 NKJV - "Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it.
Commentary: Have you ever cried over lost opportunities? Chances you had in the past that you didn't take advantage of and wished you had? College courses you could have/should have taken that would have benefitted you so much today? Exercises you should have kept up with? Or diets, for that matter? How about for lost souls? Have you ever cried about them? Jesus did! Our Daily Verse gives the "other time" when the New Testament records that "Jesus wept." (The more familiar passage is John 11:35). Jesus saw the people of Jerusalem let a great opportunity "slip through their fingers," or more appropriately "ignored in their hearts!" Jesus, the living Son of God was in their midst giving them the Gospel of Hope and Redemption and Reconciliation which would bring them Peace (verse 42), but the Jewish people closed their eyes, ears, and most importantly, their hearts to Him. And He knew for that generation they would lose the chance to come to the One who was calling! He wept about that. Does that sadden your heart too? Something to think about however. With the Best Evangelist there was, Jesus Himself, even He did not see everyone He spoke to "get saved." Many rejected Him. Many will reject you too, but don't stop trying. And yes, there will be frustration and tears on your part when you wished so much that people would respond to your pleading. But let's remember this: let your tears be that people wouldn't listen. Don't let you tears be that you didn't speak!
