Daily Bible Reading for the Week of May 6-12, 2018
5/6 John 13,14 - This begins the experience the disciples had in the "Upper Room" with Jesus. What He did, foot-washing, and what He taught were crucial truths the disciples, and us, need to understand as He faced the cross the next day. 5/7 1 Kings 16-19 - You begin to see the wickedness of Ahab and Jezebel over against the power and influence of Elijah, one of God's greatest prophets. Amidst all you will read don't miss God's "still small voice" as Elijah struggles with his depression. 5/8 1 Kings 20-22 - Ahab was rebellious to the end. His judgment was fitting for the life he had lived. 5/9 John 15,16 - Jesus reminds His disciples, that though He is their Lord, He calls them "friends." They didn't chose Him, He chose them. 5/10 2 Kings 1-4 - From Elijah to Elisha, the mantle has passed. Elisha wanted a double portion of Elijah's spirit. You will note that there is almost a double amount of miracles recorded for Elisha than there was for Elijah. 5/11 2 Kings 5-8 - Fantastic examples are given of God's magnificent ability to meet needs from a "lost ax head" to a woman who needed a debt to be paid. 5/12 John 17,18 - Jesus' High Priestly prayer is given focusing on the unity He had with His Father and the unity He wants His children to have with one another and with God. Jesus will face Pilate, but perhaps better said: Pilate will face Jesus.
