Insights on Today's Reading
Psalm 89 - This Psalm has been referred to as the Psalm of the Davidic Covenant. Note verses 3 and 4 and you see that God promised David a throne that would last forever. Of course, David's major Descendant was the Lord Jesus Christ who would fulfill that promise. There are many promises made in this Psalm to support this. Look for them. Psalm 96 - The Lord is great and is to be praised. He rules, reigns, and is coming to judge this world. Hopefully you'll come away from this Psalm in praise and worship of Him! Psalm 100 - A Psalm to memorize. Many of us did so as children. This is a Psalm of thanksgiving and a reminder of who made us and to whom we belong Psalm 101 - Some have suggested this is a "Teenagers Psalm." Such things as behaving one's self; setting nothing wicked before one's eyes; hating the work of ungodly people; and spending time with those who are faithful. Such thoughts are great for any young person to entertain. Psalm 105 - We've noted already that much of this Psalm was included in 1 Chronicles 16. God has been faithful to Israel and has protected them and provided for them in their history. Psalm 132 - This Psalm speaks of God's fulfillment of David's desire for a dwelling place to be found for the Lord in Zion. God also continues His promise to fulfill His covenant with David for the Lord to sit on David's throne.
