Ephesians 4:1 NLT - "Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God."
Commentary: Paul begins this 2nd half of Ephesians by calling all believers to live in such a way that they show the value God placed on them in saving them! "Worthy" speaks of value - what you are worth! I've often heard it said that the value of an object is equal to the price a buyer is willing to pay to achieve it. Consider the price God paid for your salvation: HIS SON!! You can't get a higher price than that! And if God offers His Son as His purchase price for you, WOW, what God must think of having you as His own?!! You are worth far more than you can imagine. And its not because you had something God needed. But, YOU were what God wanted and it was what He was going to do with you that speaks of His sense of your value to Him. Remember, you are God's inheritance and gift to His Son. So, Paul is encouraging believers to live so that the world will see that God purchased a jewel and a gem when He purchased you. How do you live like that? That's what Paul will answer in this section of Ephesians.
