DAILY BIBLE READING for Week of November 18 - 24, 2018
11/18 Ezekiel 31-33 - In chapter 31, God rebukes Pharaoh's pride with a parable about a cedar in Lebanon. Ezekiel gives further lament over Pharaoh and Egypt in chapter 32. In chapter 33 God, once again, calls on Ezekiel to serve as a watchman over the nation of Israel. 11/19 Ezekiel 34-36 - In chapter 34 God rebukes the self-centered shepherds of His people and then God speaks of His own desire to search for the lost sheep of Israel. Chapter 35 gives a rebuke to Mount Seir (Edom) and in chapter 36 God rebukes His own people but also speaks of the new covenant He is making with them. 11/20 James 3-5 - In chapter 3, James speaks about controlling the tongue so it will not cause a Christian to live a hypocritical life. Chapter 4 James calls on believers to pray with right motives if they wish their prayers to be answered. In chapter 5 James urges believers to live righteously in light of the coming of the Lord. 11/21 Ezekiel 37-39 - Chapter 37 gives the account of the famous "Dry Bones" prophecy of the restoration of Israel. In chapters 38 and 39 Ezekiel gives a prophecy against Gog's future invasion of Palestine. 11/22 Ezekiel 40-42 - Chapters 40 - 47 give the prophecy of what some believe will be the Temple built during the Millennial Reign of Christ. In chapters 40-42 The temple area is measured and special attention is given to the Holy Place, the Most Holy Place, and the priests who will serve. 11/23 1 Peter 1,2 - Peter writes to believers who were living under persecution. In chapter 1 he encouraged the believers to look forward to the inheritance in glory that God has already set aside for them. In chapter 2 Peter highlights the believer's position before the Lord as a chosen people called to serve as priests in this world. 11/24 Ezekiel 43-45 - Chapter 43 gives a prophecy of the Glory of God filling the new temple. In chapter 44 attention is given to the significance of the "eastern gate" which God used to enter the temple. A special district of land is given to the Lord for the priests to use.
