Insights on Today's Reading
Ezekiel 18 - Is God fair in His judgment? That's the question that is asked several times in this chapter. God makes it clear in verse 4, "...the soul who sins will die." Now, if a person who sins turns from their sin and gets right with the Lord, they'll live. If a person who was doing right but begins to live a life of sin, they will die. And God will know the difference. Of course, how can a person "get right with the Lord?" Verse 31 speaks of getting a "new heart and a new spirit." And we know who it is who can give that new heart, Jesus Christ! Ezekiel 19 - Ezekiel becomes like Jeremiah in lamenting over fallen Israel, and in particular, the fallen princes of that land. This chapter is devoted to mourning over these leaders and their judgment for their sins.
