Insights on Today's Reading
Ezekiel 44 - An individual, known as "the prince," verse 2, should be understood as a person of royal distinction, but certainly not the Lord Himself. This prince would have a position of honor and he was to be respected. Verse 4 speaks of God's glory filling the house, causing Ezekiel to fall in reverence before the Lord. Verses 9-31 speak of the priests who will serve in the future Temple. Ezekiel 45 - When the land is divided in the future a particular section of the land will be devoted as a "district for the Lord" and for the sanctuary, verses 1-5. A portion of the land will be for the prince, verses 7-8. Strict rules of holiness and order are given to this prince, verses 9-17.
