Psalms 73:17 NKJV - "Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I understood their end."
You ever feel that after reading a portion of Scripture, or reading a devotional, or hearing a sermon, "That was meant for me?!" You didn't necessarily expect a direct message from God, but it came anyway. Though you weren't expecting God to speak to you, He was! Psalm 73 expresses the consternation so many people feel: Why do the godless, carefree people of this world seem to have so much wealth, so much fun, and so many friends? And it's not always because they have so much wealth, either. It just seems unfair to many others that they have to struggle to make ends meet; they can't go on a cruise, why they can hardly afford a movie! They feel left out of life's pleasures and feel only the "chosen few" get to have all the fun. The author of this Psalm is Asaph, a Levite musical conductor and choir director for David's choirs. He wondered about these things until he went into the tabernacle courtyard and either heard a message, or God simply spoke directly to his heart. And then, he got it! Something came to him that made sense. Christian, God wants His Word to make sense to you. Whether it is a literal reading of His Scriptures, or it is a devotional you read or a message you hear, God means to say what you need to hear. The question sometimes is, "Do you expect that to happen?" Are you coming to your daily Bible reading with the desire to hear something for you from God? Do you go to your church services and expect that something the pastor is going to say will "grab your heart" and make you think, "The pastor prepared his message just for me!"? Of course, you know, it was the Holy Spirit that was actually preparing your heart to hear! Listen to God. He's got lots to say to YOU.
