Insights on Today's Reading
Ezekiel 40 - Ezekiel is given visions of the future God has planned for Israel. It should be noted that God is not speaking about the Church in these visions. The focus of these chapters 40-48 is on what God will do in the Millennium. The Temple* spoken of is the one that will be in Jerusalem. The description of the interior of this grand house of God is given in this chapter.
Ezekiel 41 - This chapter describes the Holy Place, verse 1, called "the sanctuary," and the Most Holy Place, verse 4, in this new Temple. The detail of the structure is given and it rivals the beauty of the Temple built in Solomon's day as described in 1 Kings 6.
*The Temple that is described in these chapters will be appreciated and understood clearly by the Jews who will worship there at that time. It's hard for us to comprehend its full purpose and meaning at this time. A principle to remember when studying prophecy is that the meaning of any prophetic event becomes clearer the closer one gets to the fulfillment of that prophesy.
