FRUIT in the Christian's Life

God's plan for Christians is to bear fruit in their lives.

John 15:16 NLT - "You didn't choose Me.  I chose you.  I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit..."

Consider these passages to identify the FRUIT God wants to produce in each believer:

Galatians 5:22,23 NLT - "But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives:  love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.  There is no law against these things!"

I call these aspects of the Fruit of the Spirit the FRUIT OF A CHRISTLIKE CHARACTER.

Colossians 1:10 NKJV - "That you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God."

I call this the FRUIT OF CHRISTLIKE CONDUCT.  And what you see is that you need to start with a good CHARACTER to produce good CONDUCT!  But this also leads to another kind of fruit:

Colossians 1:6 NLT - "This same Good News that came to you is going out all over the world.  It is bearing fruit everywhere by changing lives..."

I call this the FRUIT OF CHRISTLIKE CONVERTS.  As the Christians' CHARACTER is conformed to Christ their CONDUCT will have influence of the world around
them leading the unsaved to be CONVERTED to the Lord.  Paul spoke of this kind of fruit in Romans 1:13.  Take time to read this.

A CHRISTLIKE CHARACTER leads to CONDUCT and a CHRISTLIKE CONDUCT leads to winning CONVERTS for the Lord.

An exert from Amy Carmichael's book, IF.  This is a deep devotional book from the hand and heart of a dear Christian servant who gave her life to reach out to the "forsaken and abused" children of the world.  I leave no comment of my own.  Let your heart "hear" the message of Amy's soul and ask the Holy Spirit to apply it's message to your own. - Pastor Eckardt
